Hezbollah Announces FPV Drone Attack on Merkava Tank Near Aalma El Chaeb
Hezbollah announced that it carried out an FPV drone strike targeting a Merkava tank at an Israeli military position near Aalma El Chaeb at approximately 10:15 local time.
According to the group’s statement, the attack was conducted using a first-person-view (FPV) drone, a rapidly evolving battlefield technology increasingly used in regional conflicts for precision strikes against armored vehicles and military infrastructure.
The reported target was described as an IDF-established site near the border region of southern Lebanon. Israeli authorities had not immediately released an official response regarding the claimed strike at the time of reporting.
The incident comes amid continuing tensions along the Israel-Lebanon frontier, where cross-border exchanges between Israeli forces and Hezbollah have intensified over recent months. The border area surrounding Aalma El Chaeb has repeatedly witnessed artillery fire, drone activity, and military operations linked to the broader regional conflict.
Military analysts note that FPV drones have become a significant tactical threat on modern battlefields due to their low cost, maneuverability, and ability to strike armored assets with precision. The use of drones against tanks and fortified positions has expanded dramatically across multiple conflict zones in recent years.
The Merkava is considered one of the most advanced main battle tanks in the world and forms a critical component of Israel’s armored capabilities.
Regional observers continue monitoring the situation closely amid concerns that further escalation along the northern border could widen instability across the Middle East.
